Why Do We Celebrate Christmas Anyway?

—

Christmas, as we all know, is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ about 2,000 years ago. This post is not meant to be religious, but rather, a brief reminder of WHO the season is all about. And guess what, it is not about us. 🙂

History of Christmas

Christmas, originally, was and still is, a pagan practice. How so? Jesus was not born on December 25! Well, nobody really knows when He was born but we celebrate it on the 25th of December anyway because of tradition.

Why we celebrate Christmas

Needless to say, Christmas, whether we got the date right or wrong, is still a season to be merry for having a second shot at life, through the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ! Why we celebrate it is not because we care not about our history, but rather, we want to be reminded of the beauty of life and how One beautiful soul sacrificed Himself so that we could live. Nobody else would and could do what He did!

Don’t worry if you have not received anything because for Christmas because remember that the best thing that you have and will ever receive is the gift of life.

So before the year ends, allow us to greet you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from your Queen City Cebu family.
