Yay! FREE Uniforms, Supplies and Food for Cebu City Pupils

Now, there’s no more reason for parents not to send their children to school because Cebu City Mayor already signed the ordinance that would provide school children in the city with school uniform, school supplies, and food last November 26, 2019. According to the city mayor, a P500 million fund has been allocated for this program and has been included in the proposed budget for the year 2020; wherein P350 million would be allocated for school supplies, uniforms and shoes while P150 million would go to the funding of food for the feeding program of these school children.

The ordinance was authored by city councilors Raymond Alvin Garcia and Alvin Dizon. This aims to bring closer the government to the people, down to the barangays of Cebu City. This program is actually one of the 10-point socio-economic agenda of Labella and this ordinance will take effect in the opening of class this June 2020.

With more or less 190,000 public school students in the city, the mayor finds it a high time to give them school supplies and uniforms to encourage them more to go to school and aid parents in supporting their education.

This good news is in addition to the earlier announcement of Mayor Labella that all 6,000 public school teachers under School Division Superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud will receive a P10,000 cash gift this Christmas. This would be taken from theP118 million Supplemental Budget No.3 which was already approved by the City Council. The cash gift is expected to be released as early as second week of December, depending on the speed of which the payroll and documents needed will be prepared.
