Here’s your chance to become a DOST Scholar!

Good news to all Grade 12 students! The Department of Science and Technology announced last Thursday the opening of the 2021 Undergraduate Scholarships Program for the graduating senior high school students. This time, the scholarship is not only limited to STEM strands students but they have also opened it to the non-STEM track students that belong to the top 5% of their graduating class! This scholarship program was created in order to stimulate and entice talented Filipino to pursue lifetime productive careers in Science and Technology so as to ensure a steady and adequate supply of qualified S&T human resource geared towards national progress.

Benefits of a DOST Scholar

Now is the chance for you choose to study among the different universities and colleges in the Philippines and CHED identified Centers of Excellence (COE) or Centers of Development (COD) for the S&T programs covered under the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship or institutions with FAAP Level III Accreditation for the S&T programs covered under the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship! Other benefits include:

  • tuition and other school fees (P40,000 per academic year)
  • living allowance of P7,000 per month
  • transportation allowance (for those studying outside their home region)
  • book allowance of P10,000 per academic year
  • group accident insurance
  • monthly living allowance
  • graduation clothing allowance
  • MS/PE Uniform allowance

2 TYPES OF DOST-SEI Scholarship:

  1. RA 7687

Also known as the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994”, this scholarship is awarded to poor, talented, and deserving students who belong to families whose socio-economic status do not exceed the set values of certain indicators and wants to pursue courses in the fields of Sciences, Engineering, and other applied sciences, and Science and Mathematics teaching. Interested applicants must qualify the following requirements:

  • Naturally-born Filipino citizen
  • Poor, talented, and deserving students who belong to families whose socio-economic status do not exceed the set values of certain indicators
  • Member of the Senior High School STEM strand graduating class or member of the top 5% of the senior high school non-STEM strand graduating class
  • Resident of the municipality for the last 4 years as attested by the barangay
  • With good moral character and in good health
  • Qualifier of the 2021 S&T Undergraduate Scholarship Examination
  1. MERIT

Formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship, the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program is awarded to students with high aptitude in Science and Mathematics and who are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology. Interested applicants must submit to the following requirements:

  • Naturally-born Filipino citizen
  • Member of the Senior High School STEM strand graduating class or member of the top 5% of the senior high school non-STEM strand graduating class
  • With good moral character and in good health
  • Qualifier of the 2021 S&T Undergraduate Scholarship Examination
