Beach mall soon to rise in Mactan Newtown Beach in Lapu-Lapu City. Cebuanos’ most favorite beach and what we used to call as Portofino, now known as Mactan Newtown Beach will be growing immensely.
Megaworld will be investing 1.5 Billion pesos to develop a beach mall that will rise in Mactan Newtown Beach. The chief strategy officer of Megaworld, Kevin Tan said the Mactan Newtown Beach Walk will have an appalling area of 30,000 square meters.
The upcoming beach mall will be designed and operated under the brand. There will be a garden by the cliffside, which will also have its own chapel – overlooking the sea. It will also have four state-of-the-art cinemas, Al Fresco areas, a food hall, Travelers’ Lounge, and a viewing platform that will allow mallgoers and visitors to have a 360-degree view of the sea and nearby islands.
The aim of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is to bring a fresh and new concept of mall development in Cebu. They want to recreate and innovate the beach lifestyle experience – taking inspiration from some coastline commercial expansions in South California. These developments allow people to meet friends over lunch or dinner, enjoy their coffee, watch a movie or shop around this laid-back beach atmosphere – coming from Mr. Tan himself.
Not only is this good news for Cebuanos and the tourists but also for those looking for employment. The Beach Walk is expected to create more than a thousand jobs, directly and indirectly.
