LOOK: CTU Joins Oxford University and Harvard University in World University Rankings 2023

Cebu Technological University continues to live out its vision of becoming a premier, inclusive, and globally-recognized research and innovation institution. Most recently, it became the only university in Cebu that made it to the list of the world’s most definitive sources of data, insight, and expertise on higher education, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.

For this year, 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions made it to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. The list includes the University of Oxford at the top, followed by Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively.

All these institutions were carefully evaluated based on the 13 performance indicators that measure their performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. The University of Oxford jumps to first place after finishing seventh for three years in a row, while Harvard University maintains its position. By far, more than 121 million citations across more than 15.5 million research publications were analyzed, including the survey responses from 40,000 scholars globally. In all, for this year, the World University Rankings 2023 collected over 680,000 data points from more than 2,500 institutions that submitted data.

Cebu Technological University Among Asia’s Top Universities for QS Ranking 2023

Aside from making it to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, CTU also became the only university in Cebu listed alongside the University of the Philippines in Asia’s Top Universities for the QS Ranking 2023.

A total of 16 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines made it to the list of the best Asian universities for this year’s World University Rankings. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) acknowledged such milestones, indicating, “As HEIs continue to rise in global university rankings, CHED commits to prioritizing internationalization and setting milestones in nation building.”

This year, the University of the Philippines ranked 87th in the 2023 Asian University Ranking – and remains at the top of the list for the country. Ateneo de Manila University follows the renowned institution at the 134th spot, De La Salle University (171st), and the University of Santo Tomas (175th).

Meanwhile, the Cebu Technological University became the only university in Cebu that made it to the top 1,000 (ranked 701-750). Here’s the complete list of Philippine universities that made it to the 2023 Asian University Ranking.
