USC Only School Outside Manila to Offer eSports Scholarship

Hardcore gamer? Well, it’s about time you put to purpose your intelligence in online gaming because a scholarship for exceptional college gamers and student esport community leaders has been launched last Sunday, September 20 by Globe and Esports AcadArena.

Philippine’s First Esports Scholarship

Esports AcadArena, the local campus esports organization teamed up with Globe Telecom for the country’s first esports scholarship. This scholarship will cover 25% to 100% of eligible college student’s tuition. Aside from that, the program also offers a “Family Good Game Grant” which provides P25,000 to P50,000 to the families of gamers participating in specific AcadArena tournaments.

  • Competitive Merit Scholarship (25% – 100% tuition coverage)

This scholarship is open to active rosters of Alliance member schools who have shown good character and performance in any of the games under AcadArena.

  • Leadership Merit Scholarship Scholarship (25% – 100% tuition coverage)

This scholarship is open to support staff of the Alliance Member Schools who have shown good character and contribution to the growth of the campus esport scene in their community.

  • Family Good Game Grant

The Family Good Game Grant is open to families of players with good character who qualified in any official tournament of the AcadArena whether for AcadArena University Alliance Cup or the AcadArena National Campus Open.

How to become an eligible Esport Scholar?

To become eligible, the applicant must come from a “3-star accredited” AcadArena partner student organization. Currently, the following are the only student organizations accredited by AcadArena under their “Alliance Program”:

  2. Viridis Arcus (De La Salle University)
  3. Loyola Gaming Esports (Ateneo de Manila University)
  4. Oblation Esports (University of the Philippines-Diliman)
  5. Valiant Esports (Holy Angel University)
  6. Malayan Esports Club (Malayan Colleges Laguna)
  7. Mapua Gaming Society (Mapua University)
  8. TUP Gear (Technological University of the Philippines)
  9. FIT iTamaraws (Far Eastern University-Institute of Technology)
  10. Haribons (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila)
  11. San Agustin Golden Eagles (University of San Agustin)
  12. Golden Lions (Central Philippine University)
  13. Warriors’ Arena (University of San Carlos)

What is the Alliance Program? How to be part of it?

The Alliance Program is the student organization system and nationwide network of schools of AcadAreana support that gives students resources and guidance to build their campus esports program. Other perks of the Alliance program include: tournament and project collaboration, connecting and training gamers, leagues and battles with Alliance members in the University Alliance Cup, and so forth.
