Malapascua and Moalboal hailed as Philippine’s Best Beaches

With 7,641 islands to choose from, Philippines is indeed a tropical paradise for beach bums. With borders now opened and travel restrictions slowly easing, maybe it’s about time we start identifying which places are best to destress after months of quarantine and lockdowns.

Speaking of beaches, you no longer need to look and travel far because here in Cebu, we already have the best beaches in the country as stipulated by the international travel guidebook publisher, the Lonely Planet.

Cebu – Where the Best Beaches in the Philippines Are

As the ‘Melting Pot’ of Central Visayas, Cebu has made traveling to different parts of the country more accessible than ever. Likewise, this banana-shaped island has also captured the hearts of many tourists by simply showing off its natural beauty.

Without going far from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, one can already see the high-end, family-oriented resorts in the historic city of Lapu-lapu. Just a boat ride from Mactan, tourists can as well venture into islandhopping adventures to the beautiful white sand beaches and captivating islands nearby.

Malapascua and Moalboal hailed as Philippine’s Best Beaches by Lonely Planet

If you’re staying longer in Cebu, then it’s best to visit Malapascua Island up on the northern part of Cebu and try a spell-binding scubadiving adventure with a chance to see thresher sharks underwater which are present all-year round.

But if you’ve got no interest in scubadiving and sharks but still want to chill by the beach, then Lonely Planet listed another beautiful beach destination in Cebu – Moalboal. This quaint town located in the southern part of Cebu boasts of its gorgeous white sand shores and excellent choices of guesthouses and resorts that offers a relaxing staycation to those who are tired of being locked up within the four walls of their homes (or workplace). Just like Malapascua, Moalboal also has a rich ecosystem underwater. Aside from the high chances of being able to swim with giant schools of sardines, a number of sea turtles, dolphins, and whale sharks are reported to frequent the area as well.

Best Beaches in the Philippines

Aside from Moalboal and Malapascua Island of Cebu, other beaches in the Philippines that were included in the Lonely Planet’s list are as follows: El Nido (Nacpan Beach, Duli Beach, Maramegmeg Beach, and Cadlao Island), Southern Negros (Apo Island, Tambobo Bay, and Sugar Beach), Pagudpud (Saud Beach), and Siargao.

Other great beach destinations in the country include Baler, Panglao Island, Coron, and Camiguin.
