National Youth Day 2019 Celebration in Cebu

Chosen to host the National Youth Day this 2019, Cebu is expected to draw 40,000 participants with an estimated 12,000 delegates from all over the Philippines with 10,000 delegates from the Cebu Archdiocese alone. For this celebration, Cebu has 52 host parishes and nine festival sites.Tomorrow Wednesday, April 24, is the Opening procession of the National Youth Day 2019. Procession will start at 6:00 pm but the roads will be closed from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The motorists, drivers and other road users however are advised to follow the traffic re-routing plan until the activity is finished. So plan your routes ahead to avoid getting stuck in the traffic or better yet avoid the affected areas if you have no important commitments.

Temporary Closed Roads will be at Osmeña Blvd, from corner R. Landon St to P. Del Rosario St. beside Abellana National High School. The affected streets that should be avoided during the procession are from Cebu City Sports Complex passing through P. del Rosario St., right turn to Osmeña Blvd., right turn to F. Gonzales St., left turn to Magallanes St., and then to Magellans Cross as the end point of the procession route.

 
There will be traffic enforcers deployed in areas affected with the National Youth Day opening procession to assist motorist. Osmeña Boulevard will be open to traffic as soon as procession has passed.

TRAFFIC RE-ROUTING

1. Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJ’s) coming from N. Bacalso Ave. shall take Leon Kilat St., turn left to Magallanes St., left turn to Borromeo St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin. Except to those PUJ’s bound for SM/North Bus Terminal, shall proceed to Manalili St., left turn to J. Leyson St., to M.C. Briones St., left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave., then to their usual route in going to destination.

2. Passenger jeep coming from J. Alcantara St. shall take Leon Kilat St., turn left to Colon St., right turn to P. Lopez St., left turn to Magallanes St., right turn to Plaridel St., left turn to M.C. Briones St., then to their point of destination.

3. Passenger jeep coming from Alumnos, Bulacao, Pardo, and Labangon travelling along Colon St. shall turn right to Leon Kilat St., right turn to Magallanes St., left turn to Borromeo St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin, except to PUJ’s bound for North Reclamation Area.

4. Passenger jeep coming from Alumnos, Labangon and Inayawan travelling along Magallanes St., shall turn left to Borromeo St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

5. Passenger jeep coming from Lahug, Apas and Ayala passing along N. Escario St., shall follow N. Escario St., left turn to Osmeña Blvd., left turn to R.R. Landon St., right turn to Junquera St., right turn to Sanciangko St., right turn to Pelaez St., left turn to R.R. Landon St., right turn to Osmeña Blvd., then to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

6. Passenger jeep coming from Lahug, Apas and Plaza Housing passing along Gorordo Ave., shall follow to the usual route in going to Downtown Area. While traversing along Sanciangko St., right turn to Pelaez St., right turn to P. del Rosario St., left turn to D. Jakosalem St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

7. Passenger jeep coming from Talamban and Pit-os with Route Nos. 13B, 62B and 62C while traversing along V. Gullas St., right turn to D. Jakosalem St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

8. Passenger jeep coming from Mabolo while traversing along V. Gullas St., shall turn right to Pelaez St., right turn to Colon St., left turn to Mabini St., right turn to Zulueta St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

9. Trucks, Vans, Trailers and other motor vehicles coming from the South going to SM or to North Area shall follow South Road, right turn to Mambaling Trunk Road to SRP, left turn to SRP Coastal Road, passing the tunnel, to Serging Osmeña Blvd., then to the North Reclamation Area.

10. Trucks, Vans, Trailers and other motor vehicles coming from the North Reclamation Area going to the South are advised to pass along S. Osmeña Ave., passing to the tunnel, then to SRP, then to their point of destination.

II. Motorist, Drivers and other road users are advised to observe and follow the traffic signs installed on the re-routing areas to minimize traffic congestion.

On Saturday, April 27, 2019 during the Pilgrim/Walk Procession, half of the road in Osmeña Blvd. from Capitol Grounds to Cebu City Sports Complex (CCSC) will also be closed from 2:00 to 5:00 pm or until the activity will be finished.
