Let’s admit it, quality education in the Philippines is expensive. Though there are a number of State Universities that offer free education, fact is, there are still a lot of requirements and miscellaneous that needed to pay far. Much more if you are in the private school. Well, here’s a good news: there are numerous institutions and government agencies that actually believe the value of education and have been long providing education opportunities to the youth!

If you (or someone you know) are still looking for available scholarships, here’s the list of student aids they can apply:

  1. VECO College Scholarship Program 2019

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • VECO customer without records of violation of company’s service contract.
  • Parents’ annual income not exceeding P150,000
  • General weighted average of at least 90 in the first and second grading.
  • Willing to pursue BS- Electrical Engineering/ BS Accountancy / AB Mass Communication/ BS Industrial Engineering /
  • Eligible universities: USC, USJ-R and CIT-U

HOW TO APPLY:

Submit application kit on or before April 12, 2019 at VECO J. Panis Street, Banilad Cebu City.

REFERENCES:

  1. DOST-SEI Government Scholarship

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have enrolled in any of the state universities and colleges or private higher education institutions recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as Centers of Excellence or Centers for Development or with Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippine Level III
  • Belongs to the top 5% of the class
  • Applicable to degrees in Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM fields)
  • After graduation, scholars are expected to give back by serving the country for a minimum duration equivalent to the number of years the scholar benefited from the scholarship.

BENEFITS:

  • Monthly allowance of P7,000
  • Tuition fee subsidy of P40,000 per academic year
  • Book allowance
  • MS/PE clothing allowance (one time only)
  • One economy-class roundtrip fare per year for those studying outside of their home province and group accident insurance

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. CHED Student Financial Assistance Program

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate/ Passer of Alternative Learning System/ Philippine Educational Placement Test
  • Parents’ annual income not exceeding to P300,000
  • Must avail of only one CHED scholarship or financial assistance program

BENEFITS:

  • Financial assistance of P6,000 to P15,000 per semester
  • Applicable to both incoming and current college students

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Prepare Form 138/ Accreditation and Equivalency Test Passer Certificate/ Certificate of Advancing to the Next Level
  • Latest Income Tax Return of parents/ guardians
  • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue
  • Certificate of Indigency from the Government
  • Affidavit of No Income from the Department of Social Welfare and Development
  • Certificate of good moral character from last school attended
  • Duly accomplished CHED StuPAPs Application Form

DEADLINE: April 30, 2019

  1. OWWA Scholarship (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration)/ Education for Development Scholarship Program

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proof that you are related to an active OWWA member (Birth Certificate, Beneficiary as certified by the Local Civil Registrar or NSO)
  • Official proof of the OFW’s OWWA membership
  • Form 137
  • Health Certificate
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character
  • Among the top 20% of the graduating students with an average not less than 80%
  • 21 years old and below
  • Two copies of 1×1 ID picture
  • 2 sets of application form
  • Pass the test administered by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (October 2018)

Submission deadline: May 7 – 17, 2019

BENEFITS:

  • OWWA-sponsored scholarship to any 4-5 year programs bachelor’s degree in any privately-owned vocational or tertiary institution, any state universities and colleges, or in any Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-accredited institutions
  • P30,000 financial aid per semester

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Fill in OWWA Scholarship for.
  • Take DOST-SEI Administered Test
  • Submit all required documents.

  1. SM College Scholarship

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 graduate
  • With a general weighted average of at least 88%
  • With total household income not exceeding to P150,000 per year

BENEFITS:

  • Specialize in any of the following Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Information Technology, Engineering, and Education
  • Full tuition fee
  • Monthly allowance
  • Part-time job opportunities during semestral and Christmas breaks
  • Exclusive job offers with SM group upon graduation

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Go to SM Official Website: https://scholarship.sm-foundation.org
  • Register and log in.
  • Accomplish online application form
  • Wait for 7 day s processing and evaluation.
  • Wait for the date of confirmation and schedule of exam sent via email.
  • Interview with the SM Foundation staff on the same date of the exam.
  • Home visit.
  • Confirmation of school and course.
  • Orientation and signing of contract.
  • Attach with it Parents’ Income Tax Return/ Certificate of Indigency, Report Card, Birth Certificate, 2×2 ID Picture, and sketch of home to the nearest SM Mall

Application Period: November 5, 2018 – January 31, 2019.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a full-time 1st to 4th year student
  • Final average not lower than 85%
  • No incomplete grades
  • Full accomplished online application

BENEFITS:

  • Financial assistance covering tuition and miscellaneous expenses
  • Book requirements
  • Transportation needs
  • Scholarship is renewable every semester as long as the student maintains the 85% GPA requirement
