ICYMI: Three Cebuanas made it to the Miss World Philippines 2019 roster

No doubt, Cebu is not only rich in natural resources but as well as in human resources. Just months after Gazini Ganados’ winning of Miss Universe Philippines, another set of Cebuana beauty queens passed the final screening of Miss World Philippines 2019. Ilene de Vera, Tracy Maureen Perez, and Louise Theunis were among the 37 of the 40 candidates who made it to the official roster which was announced last August 4 in San Juan City – made through photos shared in the official page of Miss World Philippines.

After winning as Binibining Cebu Charity 2018 representing the town of Madridejos and becoming the first runner-up in Miss Cebu 2016, Tracy Maureen Perez has long been eyeing for Miss World Philippines. She believes that her personality and character perfectly fit for the title and worthy of bringing the province of Cebu on the national stage.

On the other hand, this year is a major comeback for Ilene de Vera after Binibining Pilipinas last March 2019. The Cebuana beauty is from Mandaue City and a graduate of Mass Communication at the University of the Philippines Cebu. This is her third national pageant after winning Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 and representing Philippines in Miss Asia Pacific International where she ranked fourth.

And who can forget the 19 year old who graduated Magna cum Laude and ranked first in the Pharmacist Board Examination 2018 with a score of 91.55 percent? The Belgian-Filipina Louise Tan Theunis was raised in Zamboanga City before moving to Cebu where she studied at the Cebu Doctor’s University. Apart from excelling academically, she also actively participates in sports events and beauty pageants where she won as first runner-up in Miss Mandaue 2016. Early this year, she was crowned as Hiyas Nan Carrascal 2019 in Surgao del Sur.

Now, there’s more reasons to look forward how these beautiful Cebuanas can bring change in their advocacies as they compete for the upcoming Miss World Philippines 2019 coronation night on September 8 at the Araneta Coliseum. To this year, the country has only one Miss World titleholder, Megan Young in 2013.

Will a Cebuana be the next Miss World? Who knows.
