UPDATE: 4th Cebu-Mactan Bridge & Coastal Road Construction Project Gets NEDA Approval

The very much welcomed 4th Cebu-Mactan Bridge and Coastal Road Construction Project have finally been approved by the joint committee at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) last December 20, 2019 (Friday). The ball is now on the President’s court.

Although this is looking a little bit delayed than earlier releases which mentioned it to start about this time around already, this update on the project should still naturally bring smiles to Cebuanos especially those that need to travel around Mandaue and Mactan’s terrible traffic conditions.

The Public Works Secretary stated that these projects have been “fast tracked” before the year ends so that by next year they can already focus on the engineering details and procurement and its subsequent start of construction sooner than later.

The 4th bridge is planned to have a 0.58 kilometer bridge component and a 6.2 kilometer coastal road part or the Mandaue Coastal Road project that will connect to the Mandaue-Liloan diversion road. Overall the project is estimated to cost about P3 billion pesos and is part of the 12 big ticket projects worth P626 billion approved by the panel last Friday.
