What colleges and universities in the country offer the best academic programs? We all know how highly-valued education is here in the Philippines. For this reason, it is best to trim down your options by identifying the institutions that are duly accredited as Centers of Excellence and Centers of Development – which are awarded by the Commission on Higher Education. Under Section 8 (f) of RA7722 or the “Higher Education Act of 1994”, the Certificate of Excellence was created in order to sustain and develop excellence of higher education institutions by enhancing their teaching, service programs in lieu of nation building and development.
To further help you, we have listed the colleges and universities which received CHED’s Center of Excellence and Center of Development in the Academic Year 2017 – 2018. Here is the unofficial tally and ranking of schools according to the combined number of COEs and CODs with 1 point equivalent for COE and 0.75 point equivalent for COD. This method was utilized knowing that COEs are granted to those schools with graduate programs for at least five years. Data used for this list was based from the records of the Office of Programs and Standards Development and compiled by OPRKM-Knowledge Management Division, as of May 2018.
