In a world filled with\ncreativity, there is one name that naturally stands out when it comes to luxury\nand unparalleled glamour for bridal gowns \u2013 Monique Lhuillier<\/strong>. Born on September 15, 1971 to parents Michel\nLhuillier and Amparito Llamas, the Filipino-American fashion designer and\ncreative director for bridal gown and evening gowns was reared in their house\nin Cebu City together with her other sister and two brothers. Her sense for\nsophistication was honed by her father who was a jeweler and diplomat but her\nlove for designing and tailoring was highly influenced by her mother who was a\nformer model and at the same time the creator of their clothes and apparel.\nUpon seeing the small sewing business of her mother she slowly fell in love and\ngot interested in designing and tailoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monique Lhuillier left for\nSwitzerland at the age of fifteen to study in a boarding school \u2013 Chateau Mont<\/strong>Choisi.<\/strong> <\/em>Before that, she attended\nSaint Theresa\u2019s College and was noted to be a very intelligent student who\nspoke of outstanding academic performance and pursuance of a successful career\nin fashion designing. She then went to Los Angeles where her brothers also\nstudied and joined the Fashion Institute\nof Design and Merchandising <\/strong>where she met Tom Bugbee \u2013 her soon-to-be\nhusband and father of her two children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduation, Monique\nLhuillier got a job in a sportswear company Melivier<\/strong>. However, such fine job didn\u2019t support her creative way\nof thinking. It was only when Tom and Monique decided to get married when she\ngave up her work and began her bridal gown creation journey. Much to her\ndismay, there was not much fashion for bridal wears in 1995. Though she found a\ndress to wear, this did not meet her creative expectations to some extent.\nHence, she began sketching twenty-five dresses for her friends and family to\nwear for her wedding party. Such dreams and affinity for bridal and evening\ndresses pushed Monique Lhuillier to launch her bridal line in 1996. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And such was a great success! Many editors and buyers\nfell in love with her collection. Bugbee, who was always supportive of her\nwife\u2019s creative visions, then became the CEO of the company. In 2004, Monique Lhuillier gained\ninternational attention after creating the wedding dresses for Britney Spears\nand Emmy Awards dressed for Jamie-Lynn Discala and Allison Janney. <\/strong>She then\nopened her flagship store in Melrose Place in 2007 and added a New York store\nin 2012. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Monique Lhuillier became a\nrenowned brand for bridal gowns, evening dresses, handbags, home furnishing\nitems, and fragrances. She became a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America <\/strong>in 2003 and received the Medal of Honor by the former President of\nthe Philippines Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo<\/strong> in 2006. Her brand has also become\na favorite among celebrities for red carpet events and weddings with clienteles\nincluding Michelle Obama, Jennifer\nLopez, Blake Lively, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Lea Salonga, Catherine Zeta\nJones, Kim Yoo Jin, Nicki Minaj, Carrie Underwood, Zooey Deschanel, Taylor\nSwift, Jennifer Lopez, Kristen Stewart, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon,\nGwyneth Paltrow, and Sarah Michelle Gellar <\/strong>to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
