After more than year since the Mactan Cebu International\nAirport officially open its doors to the public, its beauty has captured the\nnotice of the super-jury of the World Architecture Festival 2019, awarding it\nthe Completed Buildings-Transport category. The contenders in this category included Singapore’s\nJewel Changi Airport and Sydney Australia’s Barangaroo Ferry Wharf, among\nothers. With over 148 judges from\ndifferent countries, the recognition is a tourism booster for the Queen City of\nthe South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The architectural design\nof Terminal 2 is a collaboration between world-class Filipino designers and\nPrincipal architect of Integrated Design Associates (IDA) Hongkong Winston\nChu. Our very own Kenneth Cobonpue\nhelped in the conceptualization of the design, as defined in its timber arches\nand floor-to ceiling glass panels. Some of the judges note on the simple\nelegance of the airport, using locally-sourced materials in completing its\ndesign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
