As one of the\ndriving forces of the economy, surely it has greatly affected many Filipinos as\nbusinesses procedures are now being put to halt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After months of\nquarantine and strict compliance of health and safety measures, Cebu Governor\nGwendolyn Garcia finds it necessary to gradually resume some tourism activities\nin the province given that many Cebuanos rely on tourism as main source of\nlivelihood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Governor\nGarcia issues Executive Order No. 20-A<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last July 23,\nThursday, Governor Garcia issued Executive Order No. 20-A which now allows the\nopening of tourist attractions and outlines the guidelines that need to be\nfollowed in order to promote the health and wellness of the visitors,\naccommodating establishments, and dine-in of restaurant customers while in Cebu\nprovince under the Modified General Community Quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tourism\nActivities that are Allowed under MGCQ<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the aforementioned\nexecutive order, the following activities may now be done in the following\nmunicipalities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Canyoneering in Badian and Alegria<\/li><li>Island hopping, Snorkeling, Diving,\nBeach activities, and whaleshark watching in Oslob<\/li><li>Sightseeing<\/li><li>Zipline adventure<\/li><li>All-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding<\/li><li>Parasailing<\/li><li>Hiking<\/li><li>Trekking<\/li><li>Mountaineering<\/li><li>Spelunking (caving)<\/li><li>Visiting cultural heritage sites and\nmuseums<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Health\nand Safety Protocols to be followed for Tourism Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the health\nand safety protocols as stipulated in the Executive Order No. 20-A:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Booking of Tour<\/strong><\/li><li>Walk-in\ntourists are discouraged. Instead, visitors are encouraged to pre-book their\ntour on the centralized online booking portal managed by the Cebu Provincial\nTourism Task Force. Nonetheless, walk-ins will still be entertained and\nassisted by the establishment to ensure that booking is done through the portal before allowing\nthem to participate in any activity.<\/li><li>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nOnline\npayments using money transfers and e-wallet services is also encouraged. This\ncan be done through the booking portal provided by the government. Guests must\npay in full their dues before commencing with the tour. And just like the usual\nprotocol, tourist spot operators have to brief tourists on rules and\nregulations, and prescribed gear to wear.<\/li><li>Tourists\nare given RIFD bracelets which they will wear at all times. RIFD confirmation\ncodes will then be sent to the tourist\u2019s email, Facebook Messenger, Viber, or other similar messaging\nplatforms.<\/li><li>Open-air\nand well-ventilated dining is highly encouraged but restaurants with indoor air-conditioned is allowed if install\nhigh-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter and ionizer. However, dine-in\ncustomers must be limited up to 75% only of the establishment\u2019s full carrying\ncapacity. Buffet service is already allowed if food servers are present in the\nbuffet area and all food trays are covered.<\/li><li><strong>Reception\nArea<\/strong><\/li><li>All personnel assigned at the reception area should wear a\npersonal air purifier\u201d and directed to conduct health screening such as\ntemperature checks to all guests.<\/li><li>Physical distancing markers should\nbe placed in visible areas to guide queuing guests<\/li><li>Foot baths must be placed at the\nentrance of the reception area<\/li><li>Acrylic or glass barriers may be set\nup at the front desk<\/li><li>Alcohol and alcohol-based sanitizer as\nwell as tissue or paper towels must be made available by the establishment at\nall times<\/li><li>Use of disposable bottles is not\nallowed. Guests are provided with brand-new refillable water tumbler \u2013 which\nwill be part of the tour package. In accordance with this, refilling stations\nfor water or turmeric-infused and honey-sweetened calamansi juice shall be made\nreadily available.<\/li><li>Luggage and personal belongings must\nbe disinfected with an Ultraviolet Germicidal Light<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other\nimportant Guidelines include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Only 300 people are allowed to do\ncanyoneering in Badian and Alegria \u2013 that is 600 in total daily. Operating\nhours begins at 6am and ends at 3pm in the afternoon. <\/li><li>Island hopping and whale watching in\nOslob should only cater 50% of the maximum passenger-carrying capacity and\noperators are strictly directed to disinfect their vessels.<\/li><li>Renting of masks and snorkels are\nalso no longer allowed as snorkelers are now required to use their own gears. <\/li><li>Divers are also \u201cstrongly encouraged\nto purchase or bring their own masks, buoyancy control devices, mouthpieces,\nand snorkeling tubers to avoid sharing of equipment.<\/li><li>Whale shark interaction is only open\nfrom 6am to noon with a limited number of 1,000 guests per day.<\/li><li>Tourist vehicles must not be air-conditioned, and if possible,\nmust be installed with HEPA filter and ionizer.<\/li><li>Tourists who exhibit influenza-like symptoms shall be turned over\nto the city or municipal<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more details, read the full text of the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/sugbonews.gov\/posts\/1429198523931841?_rdc=1&amp;_rdr\"><strong>Executive Order here<\/strong><\/a><strong>: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/sugbonews.gov\/posts\/1429198523931841?_rdc=1&amp;_rdr\">https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/sugbonews.gov\/posts\/1429198523931841?_rdc=1&amp;_rdr<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tourism industry has been massively hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
