Loud and Proud: CTU Becomes the First University to be Awarded Three QS Stars!

The Cebu Technological University made history by becoming the very first university in Cebu to be awarded an overall rating of three stars by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Team. This award was given by the largest international higher education network based in London, known to connect universities and implement comparative data and analysis that highlights the institution’s strengths – like the annual QS World University Rankings.

Just a year after CTU was granted with the “Fostering World Class Philippines Universities Project” by the Commission on Higher Education, the university once again proved to take the lead in delivering quality education to its stakeholders by having been evaluated and successfully earning three stars from the QS Intelligence Unit (QSIU).

CTU was rated based on the QS Starts System which consists of important performance indicators that were grouped into seven categories: Teaching, Employability, Academic Development, /Online Learning, Social Responsibility, Inclusiveness, and Program Strength.

What does it mean to be a Three-star University?

According to the QS Rating System, getting three stars mean that the university is now a nationally recognized and globally acknowledged institution that displays exceptional performance and quality standards.

While CTU got an overall three-star average, the institution takes pride in its five stars in the ‘Employability’, ‘Social Responsibility’, and ‘Inclusiveness’ categories. This is because the institution was able to maintain a respectable degree of exploration and its graduates are highly appealing to employers.

This award was attributed to the collective efforts of all the stakeholders of the school, under the leadership of CTU President Rosein Ancheta Jr. – who has been leading the university since 2015. QS Evaluation began before the pandemic and with the evaluation report, CTU aims to be consistent and further improve the quality of education it provides as mandated by the government.
