In the last ten years, the number of Koreans visiting the island of Cebu has grown immensely. I could remember when I was in college – how we easily became one of the top places for Asians to come to for learning the English language. Along with their desire to learn and master the English language, came the left and right of putting up of different Korean establishments – hotel, restaurants, bars, boutiques, etc.

Until today, they’re still coming in, helping us economically and they also make very nice friends. Koreans are generally happy and warm, not to mention very stylish. Speaking of stylish, come and check out one of the newest restaurant and cafe in Mactan – Africa. The cozy and nature-themed resto recently opened last March and I am loving the vibes in here.

Love their plants – makes the place look so nice and green
Happy guest enjoying her beer. Check out that refreshing kubo-inspired walls/ space
The owner, Jane Lee said that it was originally a vacant lot with a large tree and a woven roof. She wanted to provide a nature-friendly place in Mactan. Then she designed the place as cozy and naturally as it flowed. The name Africa suits the place because of the evident jungle-tropical vibe.
Love those drapes flowing – makes a nice touch
Chic guest to match the chic resto
Tropical vibes all over
There is a kubo-inspired space and a hammock within their establishment, during the day it could be a space for children to play at while the mommies and daddies relax. Super chill!

Africa has that modern contemporary interior and is super easy in the eyes. One can take a lot of IG-worthy photos in almost every corner of the restaurant/ cafe, not to mention those gorgeous foodies. Aye aye! The owner is a Korean lady who has a super cute baby girl and you can see some of their snaps on their Instagram account @cebu_africa.

They serve a wide variety of food choices – from Italian, Filipino, Spanish to Korean dishes. I would want to try out their version of the African rice.

Those who love Korean foodies, I suggest you try out their Kimchi Sausage Pasta. I swear their food looks delicious like bomb diggity delicious! Plus their serving size is big and definitely okay for its price.
Mouthwatering food choices
In Africa, they also serve yummy and healthy smoothies, frappes as well as alcohol. It’s ideal for a dinner and drinks type of night out with your love or your girlfriends/ buddies. The sandwiches and salads look so good; ooh that Shrimp Chicken Salad is beautiful mm mmm!
Tropical refreshments
Coffee coffee coffee!
Chill with a few bottles of beer or …
Sip on some wine if you’re feeling classy 😉
After a delicious full meal, you can spend your time sipping wine and catching up with your girlfriends. That or you can just have a cup of coffee and do some work – if you’re alone and have some unfinished task like some of us do. Or should I say like me? Lol just kidding. Peace!
